Wendy, who heads up our London office, joined P+HS in 2010. She brings a huge amount of health sector experience with her, having previously been a partner of Nightingale Associates and a co-director of her own practice.
She is passionate about the values of the NHS and the therapeutic effect good architectural design has in helping to deliver high quality healthcare.
Wendy is experienced in all stages of procurement, from strategic level through to the design and delivery of high quality buildings. Her work has been recognised with awards in these fields. She particularly enjoys working with PCTs and NHS Trusts at the very early stages of service and estate reviews. The opportunity to design buildings, if the need for doing this is identified, is always a treat. The architect’s challenge is to realise the client’s vision and ambition and, whilst aware of the many constraints, achieve excellence.
Wendy is an accredited RIBA Client Design Adviser, has been engaged to work on innovative service models and has helped to re-focus projects which were in danger of losing their way. She is also a member of The RIBA Client Health Forum, a strategy group which looks at future trends in hospital and healthcare design.
Her experience as a carer led her to stand for election to be a governor at UCLH, a role she has been carrying out since Foundation Trusts were formed in 2005.
She loves travelling, particularly on trains, is a Sinophile, enjoys art, hill walking and food, especially if it’s from Sri Lanka, the country of her birth.
