Town End
This extra care facility, developed by Broadacres Housing Association, working in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council and Hambleton District Council, breaks the mould of traditional public sector accommodation for the elderly and provides a much needed ‘state of the art’ library.
The building integrates 40 one and two bedroom flats specially designed for older people with the new library, a ‘one stop shop’ office for the Local Authority, meeting rooms and a café.
The building has been designed to make best use of a limited area in the town centre, placing the ‘public’ elements such as the café and library to the front of the site where they are both visible and accessible. The living accommodation is to the rear, where it enjoys greater privacy.
