Celebrating Success: Recognising Michael Bland for Outstanding Collaborative Attitude
02 December 2025
This year, we are delighted to celebrate another well-deserved win for P+HS team member Michael Bland, who has been recognised for his exceptional Collaborative Attitude. Nominated by his team leaders and wholeheartedly supported by colleagues across the practice, Michael stands out for his unwavering commitment to supporting, empowering and uplifting the people around him.
Michael exemplifies what it means to be a true collaborator; someone who not only works well with others but actively seeks opportunities to make a positive difference. Through his proactive initiatives, approachable leadership style and dedication to improving both wellbeing and workflow across the practice, Michael has become a trusted and influential presence whose impact is felt by everyone he works with.
A significant part of Michael’s contribution comes through his role as a Mental Health Champion. Far from treating the role as a formality, he has immersed himself in understanding the full range of support available and has made it his mission to share that knowledge with the wider team. Whether through the Mental Health Awareness Teams channel or through informal, day-to-day conversations, Michael ensures that mental health and wellbeing remain part of our collective dialogue.
His openness was particularly evident at last year’s AGM, where he delivered a thoughtful and encouraging presentation on the importance of managing mental health. His message reinforced the idea that wellbeing is a shared responsibility, something Michael works to nurture every day.
Beyond wellbeing, Michael has also made outstanding contributions to improving design tools and workflows across the practice. Recognising opportunities to support colleagues in their technical work, he has enhanced standard modelling tools used for residential projects and developed Revit templates that make them easier to use and adapt. He has also championed innovative software solutions such as GIS mapping, understanding its potential to transform the way we produce and present project information.
Michael has led workshops and seminars to help colleagues access GIS resources efficiently, enabling teams to create high-quality graphical outputs in a fraction of the time previously required. His efforts reflect not only technical expertise but a genuine desire to help others succeed.
What stands out most is that Michael’s motivation is always rooted in the collective good. Whether he is supporting mental health, improving workflows or building confidence in others, his focus remains on helping the whole team thrive. His generosity with knowledge, empathy for colleagues and commitment to shared progress embody the true spirit of collaboration.
Michael’s influence can be seen across multiple areas of the practice, in the tools we use, the conversations we have and the culture of support and learning that continues to grow. His contributions have made tangible improvements to both technical capability and team wellbeing, helping create a workplace where people feel valued, supported and able to do their best work together.
In every sense, Michael Bland is a shining example of collaborative attitude in action. His energy, openness and proactive mindset make our work smarter, kinder and more effective. We are proud to recognise his achievements and grateful for the positive impact he continues to make across P+HS.
