Connecting Education and Practice: Sam Lambert's Work with CIAT aspiration

For students and emerging professionals, the opportunity to learn from people already working in the industry can make a real difference. It's something Sam Lambert MCIAT, Global CIAT aspiration Chair and a member of our team at P+HS, is passionate about supporting.

Alongside his work in practice, Sam has been helping to build connections between education and industry, sharing experiences, opening conversations, and creating opportunities for the next generation of Architectural Technologists.

His recent involvement has taken him to Denmark, Ireland, and across the UK, bringing together students, academics, and industry professionals through educational visits, presentations, and professional events.

Building Connections Across Europe

During a promotional visit to Denmark, Sam met with students, academics, and industry representatives in Aarhus, Horsens, and Copenhagen. Through presentations and discussions, he explored the role of CIAT aspiration, opportunities for student engagement, and emerging topics such as AI in construction.

Visits and conversations with VIA University College, Dalux, and Konstruktørforeningen provided opportunities to exchange ideas and strengthen relationships between education and industry across borders.

Sam also led a separate CIAT aspiration educational trip to Copenhagen, bringing students and emerging professionals together to experience Architectural Technology beyond the classroom. Alongside industry presentations, the group explored the city's architecture, including a visit to the Danish Architecture Center and an insight into the restoration of Børsen following the 2024 fire.

The trip offered participants the chance to learn together, exchange experiences, and develop connections that could support them as their careers progress.

Bringing Practice into Education

In Dublin, Sam supported an event hosted by TU Dublin and the CIAT Republic of Ireland Centre, reaching more than 400 Architectural Technology students from four institutions, both in person and online.

He also spent time speaking with students across all four year groups at TU Dublin, sharing insights into CIAT aspiration and the opportunities available to those beginning their careers.

Alongside a presentation about his role as Global Chair, Sam gave students a glimpse into life at P+HS, drawing on his own project experience to demonstrate how the skills developed through education translate into practice.

For students considering their next steps, these conversations offer something valuable: a clearer picture of the profession, the different career paths available, and the people and organisations that can help them along the way.

Supporting the Wider Profession

Sam's involvement has also extended to the Association of European Experts in Building and Construction's 68th General Meeting at the University of Salford, where he presented on the role of CIAT aspiration and opportunities for international collaboration.

He has also served as a judge at the AT Awards, helping recognise the achievements and contributions of emerging talent within Architectural Technology.

At P+HS, we're pleased to support Sam in his role as Global CIAT aspiration Chair. His commitment to sharing knowledge, encouraging professional connections, and supporting the next generation reflects something we value across the practice: creating opportunities for people to learn, develop, and contribute to the future of our industry.

“I'm very grateful to P+HS for the opportunity to be involved with CIAT. For me, it's always been about supporting the profession, sharing knowledge, and contributing something valuable to the practice. Personal recognition has never been the motivation. What matters most is doing something worthwhile for the profession and for P+HS.”
