UTC James Cook CENE award

James Cook Urgent Treatment Centre Shortlisted for Constructing Excellence Awards 2024

Our team are excited to announce that the Urgent Treatment Centre at The James Cook University Hospital has been shortlisted for the CENE Innovation award!

The new UTC has been built alongside the hospital’s existing emergency department and is part of a £9m investment in urgent care services on Teesside. The rapid design and delivery of the 980m2 facility involved close engagement with the NHS with the aim of alleviating pressure on their current healthcare infrastructure and enabling people to be treated at the right place and the right time.

An integrated approach to design was taken with the ground floor directly linking to the existing emergency departments, creating a one-way patient flow.

The modular construction - with 27 units seamlessly installed in a matter of days - meant minimal disruptions to the existing emergency facilities alongside offering a zero waste to landfill solution and minimising carbon footprint.

Congratulations to everyone involved on this fantastic project and thanks to the team at Geoffrey Robinson for making the submission.
