A new Endoscopy Facility for Lincoln
A new Endoscopy Facility for Lincoln
24 June 2025
Marking a significant milestone in the development of the new endoscopy facility at Lincoln County Hospital, James Almond attended the steel signing ceremony to commemorate the beginning of this much-anticipated project for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The new-build facility is set to significantly improve endoscopy services, replacing a temporary timber framed building that has been in use for over 30 years and is no longer fit for purpose.
Designed to enhance patient experience and improve service delivery, the new unit incorporates twelve ensuite patient pods, supporting private consultation before the procedure and recovery afterwards. The thoughtful layout allows patients to recover in their own space, offering both audible and visual separation for greater privacy and dignity, away from the bustling activity of the department.
Great attention has been given to making the facility as welcoming as possible, with large floor-to-ceiling windows in both the outpatient waiting area and the staff bases/workstations. Upon entry, a landscaped area featuring a diverse array of native plant species has been included to boost the ecosystem across the NHS estate and create a relaxing environment.
The project not only aims to meet the Trust’s JAG accreditation standards but also to provide the required capacity of six procedure rooms by 2027. Equal attention has been paid to staff pathways and facilities to ensure full compliance with HBNs and Joint Advisory Group standards, including the addition of a training room, staff rest area, offices, and changing rooms.
The facility is currently on site and being constructed by B+K with a target completion date of May 2026.
