Raising Awareness and Supporting the MND Association

Over the past few years, P+HS Architects has proudly supported the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) through our ongoing involvement with Northallerton Rugby Club’s annual Summer Touch Tournament. This year, our team the Brompton Bobcats, has once again taken to the pitch not only to compete, but to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that has real resonance within the P+HS Team.

Now in its seventh year, the tournament brings together 14 teams from across North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. Played on Friday evenings at Northallerton Rugby Club, the event encourages new players to get involved with the sport while supporting junior teams and local causes, all in great spirits (and often, a few beers!).

In a tradition that’s become part of the summer season, players usually contribute to a team kitty for kit costs. Last year, P+HS Architects covered those costs, and instead, we invited the team to select a charity close to their hearts. The team unanimously chose the MND Association, a cause especially meaningful within the rugby community and to several of our team members.

This year, the Brompton Bobcats have once again donated their kit fees to the MNDA, raising a total of £500 for the Charity.

Director Pete Stead shared why the cause is so personal: “Having seen my Partners mum recently diagnosed with MND I have a close understanding of the challenges and emotional impact of this dreadful disease. Any monies we can raise to assist with further research into MND and to support both sufferers and their families is an important contribution, the support from the P+HS family and the P+HS Team has enabled us to donate a sum of £500 towards MND.”

Last Friday, the team was joined at the club by Brian Jennings from the Hambleton & Richmondshire branch of the MND Association who came along to meet the players and enjoy a pint of Guinness!

This week marks the tournament final, taking place at Brompton Lodge, Northallerton, on Friday 11th July, with kick-off at 7:30pm. If you're local, we’d love to see you there to cheer on the teams and help raise even more awareness for this important cause.

As proud sponsors of Northallerton Rugby Club, we’re honoured to champion both the sport and the meaningful causes close to our team. We look forward to building on this spirit of community and support in the years ahead.
