Jess takes the Chair for NAWIC in the Northeast

One of our Newcastle team, Jess Newton has been elected as the new Chair for NAWIC in the Northeast!

NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) has championed women in construction since its early beginnings as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas in 1953, nowadays providing support and training to encourage new entrants into the profession.

Jess has been a supporter and active committee member of NAWIC for over 6 years and is delighted to take on the role of Chair. Jess said "NAWIC is a non-profit organisation which is committed to encouraging individuals to pursue, establish and sustain successful careers in the construction industry. Construction is a much more diverse profession than it was in 1953, with numerous opportunities for women and many great role models from all genders and abilities. Our organisation is not only for women and we value the contributions of all those who work towards a more gender-equal construction industry of the future. As well as supporting and empowering our members, we work to get younger females interested and excited about careers in construction."
