Finishing Touches Underway for Supporting Living Village in Hebburn
27 January 2025
The final touches are being made to the new specialist supported living development for Karbon Homes and South Tyneside Adult Social Services, with handover set for February. This thoughtfully designed scheme delivers ten bespoke bungalows tailored for individuals with autism and complex learning disabilities, alongside dedicated staff accommodation to support high-quality care.
Designed in close collaboration with key stakeholders, the development balances homely, welcoming environments with essential safety considerations for both residents and staff. At its heart lies a central courtyard, connecting all ten homes and promoting a strong sense of community. Additionally, six of the properties benefit from private gardens, offering a choice of outdoor spaces tailored to individual needs.
Located on the former Father James Walsh Day Centre site in Hebburn, the scheme is part of a wider initiative by South Tyneside Council to help people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs live independently. As part of this initiative, we have also designed a mixture of bungalows and supported living apartments on the former Nolan Hall site in Jarrow, which is also nearing completion. These much-needed homes will provide specialist accommodation within the community, allowing residents to live independently while staying close to family and friends.
Delivered in partnership with Able Construction, alongside CK21, Storm Tempest, Artis Consulting, and Southern Green, these specialist housing schemes will soon offer residents a safe, supportive, and life-enhancing place to call home.
