South Tyneside Supported Living Villages
South Tyneside Supported Living Villages
Developed for South Tyneside Council and Karbon Homes, two supported living schemes provide vital accommodation for adults with complex needs, learning disabilities, and autism within the borough.
Together, the 21 homes across two sites in Jarrow and Hebburn have been carefully designed to help residents live more independently while receiving the care and support they need. Each scheme is arranged around a communal landscaped garden within a central courtyard, encouraging social interaction while respecting the need for privacy.
The Nolan Hall site in Jarrow comprises five bungalows and six apartments, along with a dedicated hobby room and a four-bedroom staff house. All homes have access to the central courtyard, with the bungalows also benefiting from private and semi-private garden spaces to further enhance residents' quality of life.
The Father James Walsh scheme in Hebburn includes ten supported housing bungalows and a staff bungalow, all similarly arranged around a shared courtyard to promote a sense of community.
This diverse mix of homes caters to a variety of needs, offering tailored living environments that balance independence and support. Both schemes include on-site staff accommodation, ensuring round-the-clock, high-quality support is always available.
Although modest in scale, these specialist living villages have a meaningful and lasting impact, enabling residents to live with greater autonomy, while remaining safe and well-supported in their local community.
